The book is dedicated to a small, very peculiar people - the Kurgs, living in South India. The Coorgs differ both in appearance and in their customs from other Dravidian peoples. Their origin has not yet been established. In a vivid artistic form, the author talks about the features of the material and spiritual culture of the Kurgs, their modern life, social status, the nature of the mountainous region of Kurg, which they inhabit, and the most important moments of their history.
