Charles Baudelaire is one of the key names in French literature of the 19th century. His “Flowers of Evil” became a reference book in Russia, in a sense, determining the direction in which Russian literature began to develop in the late 19th and early 20th centuries. His life, full of passions, hobbies and disappointments, is another work of art that Baudelaire left us. The author of the book, Henri Troyat (real name Lev Tarasov), is the oldest and generally recognized master of the biographical genre; he has written numerous biographies of literary and artistic figures, and also the largest historical characters of the 18th–20th centuries.

Книга про Шарля Бодлера відкриває перед читачем не лише його творчість, а й складну особистість, сповнену пристрастей та внутрішніх конфліктів. Автор майстерно передає атмосферу епохи, в якій жив Бодлер, а також вплив його творчості на розвиток літератури в Росії. "Квіти зла" дійсно стали знаковим твором, і в цій книзі ви знайдете глибокий аналіз його віршів, що дозволить краще зрозуміти їхню суть і значення. Хоча текст перекладено за допомогою штучного інтелекту, що іноді призводить до деяких неточностей, загалом переклад виявився досить якісним. Ця книга стане чудовим доповненням до бібліотеки кожного, хто цікавиться не лише поезією Бодлера, а й історією літератури в цілому. Рекомендую всім, хто хоче заглибитися в світ французької поезії та зрозуміти, як Бодлер вплинув на майбутні покоління письменників!
