1949 is an alternate history of our planet. Sir Robert the Bruce is tasked with finding contact with Idarat and finding out who they are and who they work for. He is appointed head of the Shuk Abdullah station in place of the deceased Woods. Sir Robert finds contact with local Wahhabis to receive help - these are British collaborators. They give a tip, but an attempt at contact results in a brutal massacre on the streets of Shuk Abdullah.
