Читач має можливість заглибитися в нові літературні зв'язки, зустрічі з видатними особистостями, такими як Лимонов, Аксенов та Войнович, а також дізнатися про труднощі, з якими стикається Довлатов у новому культурному середовищі. Книга написана з великою увагою до деталей, і автору вдається передати атмосферу того часу, що робить її надзвичайно цікавою. Незважаючи на деякі недоліки в перекладі, загалом текст читається легко, а його зміст захоплює. Рекомендую цю книгу всім, хто хоче краще зрозуміти не лише творчість Довлатова, а й історію російської еміграції в США.
