Гольцев, вдало розкриває складну особистість Бориса Анненкова, який, незважаючи на негативні епітети радянських істориків, постає перед читачем як багатогранна фігура. Книга пропонує глибокий аналіз його мотивацій, причин боротьби за відновлення монархії та обставин, які призвели до його репутації "бандита". Гольцев не лише спростовує міфи, але й підкреслює важливість розуміння історії з різних перспектив.
