The notes of V.N. Efremov were written by the author in the late 1920s in exile immediately after the events described and are currently stored in the archives of the Association of the Life Guards Cossack Regiment in Paris. The memoirs tell of the author's escape to China from Bolshevik Russia. It tells in detail about the retreat of white troops to China after the defeat in the Civil War and the further fate of the refugees. Efremov's notes are unique in that it is practically the only memoir document of the era known to date that tells about the struggle on the distant outskirts of Russia - in the Semirechensk region (now South-East Kazakhstan) - on the part of the Whites. The collection includes the work of a modern researcher of the Civil War in Russia Vadim Alekseevich Goltsev. His latest work, “The Kuldzha Endgame of Colonel Sidorov,” tells about the immediate commander of Centurion Efremov, Colonel P.I. Sidorov, who even tried to fight the communist regime established in Russia even after emigrating to China. The book is based on the memoirs of contemporaries and archival documents, equipped with photographs and illustrations.
