Frunze had the charisma of a commander, capable of leading an army, and great personal courage and determination. He was often in the thick of battle, leading the battle formations. However, he was also a talented organizer and political leader who knew how to organize the work of headquarters and the rear in emergency conditions. Frunze's biography also includes a chronicle of the first peaceful years of the Soviet state, when the desperate and reckless Red commanders were replaced by the next generation of military leaders, corresponding to the new tasks of the Soviet government and the Red Army. This time preceded the era of Stalin and largely laid its foundation.
