A dark streak has come in the life of Falkland Islands war hero Nick Sandman. His father is in prison for fraud, his ex-wife extorts his last money, and he himself suffers from terrible back pain after being shot. There is no livelihood, no health, no real prospects for the future. Only one yacht called “Sycorax” brightens up Nick’s gray everyday life - a yacht and dreams of sailing on it somewhere far away, to a new life. For the sake of money, Nick agrees to take part in the frankly adventurous project of British television star Tony Bannister, who plans to set off on his ocean racing vessel Wildtrack on a risky voyage from England to the shores of Newfoundland.
