At the beginning of the nineteenth century, the British Empire stretched from the English Channel to the Indian Ocean. One of the builders of this empire, a participant in all the wars that England waged at that time, was Shooter Sharp. In the novel “Sharpe's Tiger,” the hero takes part in the siege of Seringapatam, the citadel in which Sultan Tipu, nicknamed the Tiger of Mysore, settled. In the novel "Sharpe's Fortress" the hero will be lured into a trap and sold to the Indians, who will prepare for him a terrible death. Many trials will fall to the lot of a former London street kid who joined the army to escape the hangman's noose. And his fate will be tightly intertwined with the fate of the Duke of Wellington, the future winner of Napoleon at Waterloo.
