The novel “Legion” continues the acquaintance with the characters of the mystical epic “The Exorcist” and takes the reader to America in the 80s. The traditional detective plot unexpectedly turns into a deep philosophical analysis of the foundations of the universe, going back to the classical heights of Dostoevsky and the ideas of early Christian authors. Inspector Kinderman witnesses a chilling nightmare generated by the restless spirit of a killer who has subjugated the bodies of the mentally ill. The author takes us from painful doubts to the apostolic call to repentance and pristine purity, which opens the way to a gracious union with God. Robert Bloch is one of the classics of horror and fantasy literature, winner of the Hugo and Poe awards. The story “Psychopath” immediately after its appearance won enormous success, and Hitchcock’s film based on it is considered the best work of this director. One of the most interesting techniques is used in “Psychopath”: a number of scenes are written from the point of view of the main character - a psychopath and maniac. Delusional images and visions are bizarrely mixed with reality. A strong detective plot is complicated by mysticism and Freudian symbolism.
