The hero of the novel "Misfits", Harold Pierce, having left the psychiatric clinic where he spent most of his life, gets a job as an orderly in a hospital, where, among other things, he has to periodically get rid of aborted human fetuses - embryos. Work turns into pure torture for Pierce and plunges him into the chaos of past nightmares; a few years ago he accidentally killed his infant brother. Pierce's mental anguish becomes truly unbearable when his life path intersects with the escaped murderer Paul Harvey, who is wanted by the police and who is now gripped by a fierce thirst for new murders. An insidious fate deceived one and embittered the other, making them suffer from a sense of guilt and hatred of people. But neither Pierce nor Harvey could even imagine what a terrible nightmare awaited them ahead...
