Ця книга є справжнім історичним шедевром, що відкриває перед читачем невідомі сторінки життя одного з найзначніших правителів Римської Імперії. Автор майстерно малює портрет Юстиніана як людини, яка, незважаючи на відсутність традиційних якостей героя, змогла досягти величі завдяки своїй хитрості, рішучості та вмінню адаптуватися до обставин. Читання цієї книги стало для мене справжньою подорожжю в часі, де я зміг відчути атмосферу епохи, в якій жив Юстініан, і зрозуміти його внутрішній світ. Вражає, як автор передає всі труднощі, з якими зіткнувся герой, включаючи криваві повстання та епідемії, і як він, незважаючи на все, залишався вірним своїм принципам і коханню. Переклад, хоч і має деякі недоліки, не заважає загальному враженню від читання. Рекомендую цю книгу всім, хто цікавиться історією, адже вона не лише інформативна, але й надзвичайно захоплююча!
