This publication presents a collection of essays about people whose destinies were most dramatically intertwined with the activities of the intelligence services during the Second World War. All the characters in this book: Richard Sorge, his wife Ekaterina Maksimova, the traitor Penkovsky, Shilo-Tavrin, who was tasked with killing Stalin, were charged with espionage. The book is written on the basis of archival materials of the former Soviet KGB. The documents in the Appendix, which are entitled “Captive Japanese documents relating to the activities of Richard Sorge and his group” and “German documents about the activities of Richard Sorge in Japan,” are published in full in Russia for the first time.
The text of the book was translated from the original language using an artificial intelligence program. For the most part, the translation of the text is of very high quality, but in some cases, due to the imperfection of the technology, there may be incorrect phrase translations in the text, as well as single words and expressions may not be translated.

Вражаюча та пізнавальна книга про шпигунство!
Ця збірка нарисів про людей, чиї долі перепліталися з діяльністю спецслужб під час Другої світової війни, справила на мене велике враження. Автор вдало зібрав історії таких особистостей, як Ріхард Зорге та його дружина Катерина Максимова, що дозволяє читачеві заглибитися в їхній світ, сповнений небезпеки та інтриг. Використання архівних матеріалів КДБ надає книзі особливої цінності, адже це дає нам можливість ознайомитися з документами, які раніше не були доступні для широкого загалу. Хоча переклад тексту деякими моментами може бути не зовсім точним, загалом він не заважає сприйняттю змісту. Ця книга стане чудовим додатком до бібліотеки кожного, хто цікавиться історією, шпигунством та таємницями Другої світової війни. Рекомендую всім, хто прагне дізнатися більше про цю захоплюючу та складну епоху!
