The work of Boris Yampolsky was undeservedly suppressed during his lifetime. Hardly a quarter of his rich literary heritage has been published; many works are considered irretrievably lost. What is the reason? Both in the notorious “fifth point”, and in the living, free, metaphor-rich language that does not fit into the framework of the official “newspeak”, and most importantly - in the obvious reluctance to “equate the pen to the bayonet.” Ordinary people, their everyday worries, joys and sorrows, simple life were closer and dearer to the writer than the “everyday life of great construction projects.” The electronic edition, expanded compared to the printed edition, includes essays by the writer and an essay by Vladimir Prikhodko about Boris Yampolsky himself.
