The young monkey Yanka Orangutan is still a piece of fruit. Although it does not grow in a botanical garden, but in a zoological garden, in other words, in a zoo. Besides her, there are other animals there - elephants, kangaroos, peacocks, pandas, walruses and so on. But there is no one smarter than Yanka Orangutanova - even the headmistress admits this, to whom Yanka comes to the rescue more than once. Yanka does not act alone, she has a company of loyal friends: Marek the Elephant, Standa Kangaroo, Carolina Mouse, Emil Penguin and Tomas Panda. During the day, as expected, they sit in their cages and let visitors look at them, and in the evenings, when the zoo gates close and the adult animals fall asleep, they gather in the empty cage of the late Master Armadillo and decide what interesting things they can do. And, believe me, there are interesting things to do. Now they are having a masquerade ball, now a sports day; either they help a blind mole see his mother, or they stop Mr. Leopard from eating anyone; either they are re-educating a naughty boy, or they are saving the zoo from a new mischievous caretaker, or they are sending Mr. Walrus to the North to see his bride. Yanka is the soul of the whole company, an inexhaustible fountain of brilliant ideas. And, as a rule, she is driven not by empty mischief, but by a heightened sense of justice. And for justice to triumph in the end, Yanka is ready to do anything! The smart, daring monkey manages to resolve conflicts and disputes in the most fantastic ways, and in such a way that all initially irreconcilable parties benefit. There's definitely a lot to learn from her! The stories about Monkey Yanka and her friends are incredibly funny. Firstly, because everything unusual and fabulous here is closely intertwined with the everyday and everyday. And secondly, because they are written in the signature style of the writer Milos Macourek - a very lively, colloquial language, all the nuances of which were skillfully conveyed by the translator Ksenia Timenchik. The narrative rushes at such a dashing gallop that it’s simply impossible to get bored and distracted. And the highlight of the book is the humorous illustrations of the famous Czech illustrator and cartoonist Adolf Born. In addition to the main events of the book, they also live their own stories, so it is doubly interesting to consider them. Source:
