The Civil War is raging across the vast expanses of the former Russian Empire. In this brutal confrontation there are neither heroes nor antiheroes, and yet in the historical arena of the 1920s personalities appear so extraordinary that they are sometimes considered gods during their lifetime. The living god of war is called the white general, Knight of St. George, commander of the Asian Cavalry Division, Baron von Ungern. Everything human seems alien to him; he is brave to the point of madness and always comes out of trouble unharmed, as if he were protected by higher powers. The baron storms Urga, the Mongol capital, and, despite the significant numerical superiority of the Chinese occupiers, liberates the city, for which he is awarded the title of khan. In his dreams he already sees “a great state from the shores of the Pacific and Indian oceans to the Volga itself.” However, he has no like-minded people; he is surrounded by random people who have joined the army. They have different views, but a common interest: they know that the baron has gold hidden in Urga, and gold opens any doors, any boundaries on the path to a free, prosperous life. If the kidnapping fails, the conspirators will face a painful death. Nevertheless, they decide to take a risk...
