The almanac was published in the year of celebrating great anniversaries: the 70th anniversary of the Victory of the Soviet people in the Battles of Stalingrad and Kursk, which radically changed the course of the Great Patriotic War. We pay our tribute to the heroes of that time. The almanac is dedicated to the defenders of the Fatherland who fought for its freedom in different periods of historical development, including soldiers of modern military operations in the North Caucasus and other local wars and military conflicts. The memories of the still living front-line soldiers of the Great Patriotic War, their relatives and friends about those who reached the great and holy Victory Day, and about those who remained forever at their combat post, are reflected in this volume... The heroes of the almanac mention in their stories names of fellow soldiers, colleagues, friends (highlighted in the text and in the Contents of the book). For the first time, child eyewitnesses who did not fight, but the war left a very deep, harsh mark on their destinies, are talking about the war. The grandchildren and great-great-grandchildren of Victory are already speaking out about “their vision of the war.” Their attitude towards the Motherland and knowledge of history, and, therefore, the future of the Fatherland, depend on how we, adults, can pass on our baton of memory to them. Few, dear family heirlooms are presented: photographs, documents. In order to preserve for descendants the names of our heroic ancestors, whose courage and valor led to the Victory of good over evil, in order to instill in the younger generation a high sense of patriotism and pride in their heroic past, we are publishing the almanac “Altar of the Fatherland.” Playcast addresses (links) / I. Ivantsova from the heading “Nobody is forgotten, nothing is forgotten” will help the younger generation, growing up on the achievements of Internet technologies, get acquainted with the pages of history through such bright, imaginative visual “means”, which include playcasts. Poetic and musical works also strengthen the authors’ attitude towards the heroism of our ancestors. The book is of interest both to front-line soldiers and their descendants, historians.
