The almanac was published on the days of great anniversaries: the 400th anniversary of the Nizhny Novgorod militia (1612, equal in significance to the Victory over fascism in 1945), the 200th anniversary of the battle with Napoleon - an equally significant event (1812) and the 70th anniversary of the victory in two greatest battles - Stalingrad and Kursk, which radically changed the course of the Great Patriotic War. Due to objective reasons, there cannot be memories of warriors of long ago, eyewitnesses. We pay our tribute to the heroes of that time. The almanac is dedicated to the defenders of the Fatherland who fought for its freedom in different periods of historical development, including soldiers of modern military operations in the North Caucasus and other local wars and military conflicts. Memories of the still living front-line soldiers of the Great Patriotic War, their relatives and friends about those who reached the great and holy Victory Day, and about those who remained forever at their combat post, found their worthy place in this volume... The almanac names the names of front-line soldiers - winners in individual chapters and in stories on the pages of the entire almanac. For the first time, child eyewitnesses are talking about the war, and the grandchildren and great-great-grandchildren of Victory are speaking out about “their vision of the war.” The book presents a small number of family heirlooms that are dear to the heart: letters from the front, photographs, documents. In order to preserve for descendants the names of our heroic ancestors, whose courage and valor led to the Victory of good over evil, in order to instill in the younger generation a high sense of love for their Motherland and pride in their past, we publish almanacs “Altar of the Fatherland.” The addresses of playcasts (links) by L. Ivantsova from the heading “No one is forgotten, nothing is forgotten” are indicated. The younger generation, growing up on the achievements of Internet technologies, will be interested in getting acquainted with the pages of the historical past precisely through such bright, imaginative visual “means” as playcasts. Poetic and musical works also strengthen the authors’ attitude towards the heroism of our ancestors. The book is of interest both to front-line soldiers and their descendants, historians.
