Leningrad 1970–1980s. The unofficial life of the city becomes brighter and bolder than that on the pages of official newspapers. Leningraders of those years - rockers, free-thinking poets, karatekas of semi-banned sports clubs, theater figures, the first geniuses of the market economy - all of them would very soon become the main actors of the city and the Russian stage as a whole. In the meantime, they have to exist in the rapidly changing everyday life of late Leningrad. Lev Lurie’s book, based on dozens of interviews with witnesses and participants in the informal life of the city on the Neva, tells about this seemingly motionless, quiet era.
