At the height of the Civil War, the flutist of the musical team of the seventh infantry regiment returns from the front. The authorities are changing in his City, each of which considers it their duty to change the name of the police station and call the main character into their ranks. He is appointed either as a battalion guitarist, or as a commissar of the Museum of World Imperialism, or as a machine gunner in a Polish armored train. He spins around, getting into various troubles: traveling with the “Fun Home” who fled from Kyiv, talking with the Archangel Gabriel and the ghost of the City Police Chief, Pan Vukhu. Motley times give no rest to either man or the angels. The skies are overflowing with the dead, and beneath them reigns Boring December, a troubled time that will never end. And there is no truth to what a persistent musician is looking for. There is nothing permanent, just worn-out inscriptions on the wall of the police station: “Temple of Freedom”, Museum of “World Imperialism”, “Center of Polish Thought” (under which “Cards and Wenches” is carefully written). And then there is Mrs. Anna and the red-haired slut from the funny convoy The inventor of the "Combat Parasol" is the Polish patriot Pan Hworovsky and the tureen mysteriously travels with the musician. And longing, great, boundless longing for something indefinite. And the search for the truth, on the knowledge of which absolutely nothing depends, but “sorrows will multiply.”
