The heroine of the novel is a woman born in 1977 from the marriage of a Soviet citizen and a Cuban. The marriage breaks up. A small family, consisting of women of different ages, lives in a Leningrad communal apartment with its peculiarities of life. The transition from the communist system to the capitalist system in microsociety is described. The heroes are fighting for survival after the collapse of the Soviet Union, as well as for the right to live in a separate living space during the period of housing privatization. Elder family members die. The action unfolds as an alternation of memories and diary entries of the current time.
