Many contradictory evidence about Pushkin the interlocutor has been preserved in memoir literature. Some contemporaries recalled that a conversation with him “was worth his works”, that “he was the soul, the revitalizer of every conversation.” Others argued that “Pushkin did not produce a special... effect, he spoke little, more about the most ordinary things” and that Pushkin “only had one remarkable expression escaped during the whole evening.” In fact, in the circle of people close and interesting to him, Pushkin was an extremely entertaining conversationalist, while in a large society or among people who were alien and indifferent, he could be withdrawn and silent. Book of famous Pushkinists B.L. Mozdalevsky and S.Ya. Hesse resurrects the word of Pushkin, and through the hundred-year fog of the past comes to us, albeit weak, often distorted, the speech of the poet, “the sun of Russian poetry,” that Pushkin, with whose last word all of Russia was clothed in deep mourning.
