In the history of Russian and world culture there is a period that lasted more than thirty years, which is usually called the “era of Diaghilev.” Our compatriot received such recognition for his selfless service to art. Sergei Pavlovich Diaghilev (1872–1929) was one of the most prominent and influential figures of the Russian Silver Age - editor of the World of Art magazine, organizer of numerous art exhibitions in Russia and Western Europe, including the grandiose Tauride exhibition of Russian portraits in St. Petersburg ( 1905) and the Exhibition of Russian Art in Paris (1906), organizer of the Russian Seasons abroad and founder of the legendary Russian Ballets troupe. An unusually gifted and energetic man, daring and even domineering, he had subtle taste and instinct, the ability to identify talents in people at the very beginning of their formation and give them a powerful impetus for development and formation. Largely thanks to Diaghilev, the names of Russian artists, composers, singers, dancers and choreographers thundered throughout the world.
