England, late 18th century. The country is gripped by horror due to the growing military power of the French. The English fleet needs sailors. And the Admiralty issues orders for the forced recruitment of sailors. Young people are grabbed right on the streets and taken to ships tied up. In the pre-war chaos, a young farmer's daughter Sylvia falls in love with the handsome sailor-harpooner Charlie Kinraid, while the prim and perfect Philip, Sylvia's cousin, burns with unrequited love for her. A love triangle hurts with its sharp edges. But recruiters break into the lives of the heroes, and the chaos of the big story cripples the fates of the lovers. Only after going through all the tests, repenting and humbled, overcoming the unbearable gap between duty and desire, will Sylvia make a choice.
