Planet Ledhom, drilling station. That day, the Ledhom summer was ending, and the weather was usual for this time of year - minus thirty degrees, a bright blinding sun and a gradually intensifying snowstorm. The station lived its usual routine, extracting valuable ore from the bowels of the planet. Suddenly, the receiver, which had been silent for months, came to life and the spaceship came into contact with the station. The signal that came from him turned out to be a request to allow an emergency landing. Based on its structure, it became clear that it was sent by the on-board computer, most likely in automatic mode. The station duty officer sent a request about the purpose of arrival and the reasons for the landing, but there was no response. It soon became clear that something strange was happening - the ship that appeared in the atmosphere was landing in a steep ballistic orbit. The computer identified it as a Micard transport cargo ship, a race of aliens neutral to earthlings. There was only one spaceport on Ledhom, designed for a maximum of two medium-class ships, so there would barely be enough space for a transporter. The cargo carrier missed the spaceport by only a few degrees, but this was enough for a disaster. The main buildings of the station were located next to the drilling rig. This was done taking into account the harsh local conditions - almost all the structures were connected to each other by passages to save heat and ease of movement. Having sat on its belly in the snow a kilometer from the spaceport, the Micardian cargo carrier fell apart into two parts. One of them, the bow, plowed three kilometers of ice crust and buried itself in a crevice. The second, the tail, broke off and, tumbling, flew in the other direction, straight to the drilling station. The ship's power plants detonated, tearing the hull apart like tinfoil. The wreckage of the cargo carrier flew into the station buildings like burning shells, demolished the drilling rig, destroyed the power reactor, special equipment hangars... Everything happened so quickly that no one had time to sound the alarm or react in any way. Explosions flared among the burning ruins, and everything around was covered in billowing black smoke. The blizzard picked it up and swirled it like in a giant mixer, mixing it with snow and fire...
