Pierre Guyotat (b. 1940) is a living classic of modern French literature, whose books have been translated into the main languages of the world. His novels, innovative in form and shocking in content, “The Grave for 500 Thousand Soldiers” (1965) and “Eden, Eden, Eden” (1970), reflecting the events of the Algerian War, became one of the most notorious scandals in French literature of the second half of the 20th century and were subject to censorship. Eros and violence, the main themes of Pierre Guyot's work, are continued in his other books, including the novel “Prostitution” (1975).
