In post-war Pskov, two similar robberies occur one after another. In both cases, criminals steal paintings by the famous artist Shapiro, who emigrated from the USSR in the 1920s. The investigation was entrusted to the head of the operational department, Pavel Zverev. Detectives are able to establish that the victims of both robberies once worked together in the neurological department of the same hospital, and the future artist Shapiro was their patient. Perhaps someone who knew about this decided to collect his own collection of valuable paintings... This version remained working until Zverev and his operatives got on the trail of the legendary gang that had been operating in Pskov even before the war...

Автор вміло відтворює атмосферу повоєнного Пскова, занурюючи читача в епоху, коли кожен крок міг стати вирішальним у розкритті злочину. Сюжет розвивається динамічно, з безліччю несподіваних поворотів, які не дають можливості відволіктися від читання. Персонажі, зокрема начальник оперативного відділу Павло Звєрєв, прописані дуже детально, і їхні переживання та мотивації викликають співчуття та інтерес. Особливо вражає, як автор переплітає історію мистецтва з кримінальним розслідуванням, що робить книгу не лише захопливою, а й пізнавальною. Рекомендую всім любителям детективів та історичних романів!
