The Letters of Vincent Van Gogh are an amazing document that has enjoyed well-deserved interest and love among readers for a hundred years since its first publication. This is a rare case when the literary talent, originality of nature and the scale of the author’s personality were complemented by truly dramatic vicissitudes of his biography, reflected in these personal texts. Biographies of the legendary - like everything connected with the name of Vincent Van Gogh. The full volume of the artist's correspondence that has survived to this day is enormous - more than nine hundred letters. We present to the reader the most complete anthology currently existing in Russian, which includes a third of the total number of letters of Vincent van Gogh, namely those that mention the most significant events of his biography and where he formulates his life and artistic views or comments on his work . All letters are published without cuts and translated from a facsimile of the original. The collection includes letters dating from 1872–1890, the texts of which give us the opportunity to follow Van Gogh’s amazing path that made him the author of world-famous masterpieces.
