The work of the great holy father of the Western Church of the 4th–5th centuries, Blessed Jerome of Stridon (339–420), “Interpretation of the Gospel of Matthew,” was written around 398 at the request of his disciple Eusebius of Cremona. In this treatise the brilliant talents of the blessed one were revealed. Jerome as an exegete, translator, Bible scholar and church scholar. “Interpretation of the Gospel of Matthew” by Bl. Jerome is also valuable in that it takes into account many comments by ancient church authors that have not reached us and, thus, takes its rightful place among the great biblical interpretations of the era of the undivided Church and will be useful to everyone interested in the saving and perfecting work of studying the Divine Revelation of the Holy Scriptures.
