Levinskaya I A. The Acts of the Apostles against the background of the Jewish Diaspora - St. Petersburg: Logos Publishing House, 2000. - 352 pp. ISBN 5-87288-210-6
The book collects and analyzes evidence about the life of Diaspora Jews, helping to understand the historical background against which the events described in the Acts of the Apostles unfolded. The Jewish world of the diaspora, so important for understanding the fate of early Christianity, consisted of ethnic Jews, proselytes and God-fearing pagans sympathetic to Judaism, who acted as a kind of buffer layer between the Jewish communities and the pagan world. All of these groups were the subject of reflection by the author of Acts. This book is an attempt to understand the reason why Luke attached such importance to the pagan worshipers of Judaism, and to analyze how his historical concept corresponds to what we know about early Christian history from independent sources.
