The research of the deputy of the State Duma of Russia, certified historian Oleg Shein is devoted to the history of the revolutionary events of 1917–1919 in the Astrakhan region. Moscow and Astrakhan archives, including the FSB archives closed to public study, the press of that era, the memoirs of participants - one and a half thousand documents introduced by the author into scientific circulation, allow us to see time in its diversity and contradictions, and behind the names of signs on the streets - living people. This is the first fundamental work of this kind on Russian regional history of the period under review, which will be of interest to both a wide range of readers and professional historians.
