After the victory of the Bolsheviks in the civil war, he returned to Finland, where he led the underground struggle of the Finnish communists. At the beginning of 1922, Antikainen's ski detachment made an 1,100-kilometer raid along the rear of the White Finns and White Karelians, smashing garrisons, headquarters and cutting communications. Under the leadership of Toivo Antikainen, the Finnish Communist Party became one of the largest parties in Finland. Communist propaganda showed the true colors of the Finnish rulers, who did not care at all about their people, but were only trying to curry favor with Great Britain. More and more people appeared all over the country wanting to support the Finnish communists in their struggle. Calls for change were increasingly heard. The government responded with repression. Thousands of communists were thrown into prison or shot. The hunt has begun for Toivo Antikainen himself. He himself refused to move to the USSR, claiming that more people were needed here
