Shish is “partisan” in Karelian. More often used with the qualification "forest". Gennady Fish once wrote about the famous sabotage campaign in winter to the rear of the White Finns in his book “The Fall of Kimas Lake”. In my opinion, complete nonsense. It’s not nonsense what I wrote, based on archival documents, the memories of my fellow countrymen and my personal experience as a skier.
