Antonio Machado (1875-1939) is the most significant poet of Spain in the first half of the twentieth century. A subtle lyricist and profound philosopher, the author of aphoristically refined works, he stands on a par with the greatest poets of world literature of our time. The main part of the book is Machado’s collection of the same name, published in Madrid in 1936 and which became canonical in Spanish-speaking countries in the preparation of subsequent editions of the poet. This is the first time the collection has been published in its entirety in Russian. The "Additions" include Machado's prose texts, which are directly related to his poetic work, and versions of translations into Russian of a number of poems. An article and comments are given.
