Kanta Ibragimov’s novel “Marshal” is an epic work unfolding in time from 1944 to almost the present day. During this period, the deportation of Chechens to Central Asia, their return to their homeland after the death of Stalin, the collapse of the Soviet Union and two Chechen wars took place. The author boldly and skillfully shows how these events were reflected in the life of his classmate Tota Bolotaev, the main character of the book. A separate line is the story of the Lezginka dance, to which Tota gives the name “Marshal” and which he performs, despite all the hardships and trials of fate. In addition to the fact that Kanta Ibragimov is the author of nine novels and a laureate of the State Prize of the Russian Federation in the field of literature and art, he is a Doctor of Economics, professor, author of many scientific works, including the titanic work “Academician Pyotr Zakharov” about the outstanding Russian portrait artist of the 19th century c.
