It shows, like nowhere else, the complete degradation and disintegration of the Soviet system, and describes the mechanism of the collapse of a huge power under the majestic name of the USSR. This change leads to large-scale social upheavals, changing not only the foundations, but also the life guidelines of some people. “Gray Caucasus” is a large-scale and somewhat epic work. It has many pointed edges that come in different shades. Despite the fact that a dramatic period is described here, just like in “Past Wars,” this novel as a whole is a bright, life-affirming, humane work, since it is about pure, beautiful and touching love.
