This book is based on the memoirs of German tank crews who fought in the famous 2nd Panzer Group of Guderian. This publication contains testimonies of those who, under the command of “Schnelle Heinz” (“Swift Heinz”) carried out the Blitzkrieg, participated in the main “Kesselschlacht” (encirclement battles) of 1941, closing the Minsk, Smolensk, Kiev and Bryansk cauldrons - but so and did not reach the Kremlin. In contrast to Guderian’s own “indescribably boring, feldgrau-colored cloth” memoirs, “reading the memoirs of ordinary soldiers and officers of his Panzer Group is much more interesting and instructive. A sergeant major or a lieutenant will tell you details that are not visible from the height of a general's greatness. And in many cases, these descriptions are more eloquent than army reports, because if a young lieutenant says that only seven people remain from his company, is it worth believing the victorious fanfare?..”How did German tank crews fight, win and die? Thanks to whom did the 2nd Tank Group rush from triumph to triumph - until it found a scythe on a stone, and the German Blitzkrieg crashed against the Russian defenses near Moscow? Whose fault was it that the Panzerwaffe never reached the Kremlin? Why did their victorious march to the East turn into collapse and the first serious defeat of the Wehrmacht, which became the beginning of the end?
