This story, written with a smile and tears, was supposed to be published in the prestigious “Detgiz” in 1992. I signed it for release, and illustrations were drawn for it. I received a fee for it, but the Soviet Union collapsed, the publishing system and the great and wonderful Russian children's literature collapsed, and the book did not reach the reader. Twenty years later, I re-read it again, edited it a little and present it to the reader. The story reflects the beginning of the distant sixties, the beginning of the life of eleven-year-old boys in the Far Eastern IED, the beginning of their military career. I would like my reader to smile a little somewhere and feel a little sad somewhere. But he did not remain indifferent to the heroes of the story, whose characters were copied from real characters. So, I break the champagne on the fragile side of the boat of my book and send it sailing to my, I hope, grateful reader.
