Mikhail Roshchin's book about Ivan Alekseevich Bunin, published in the ZhZL series, is unusual. It is remarkable in that the writer, without hiding, admires his hero, enjoys his creativity, “charging” the reader with these feelings. The author does not set himself the task of describing Bunin’s life as fully as possible, day after day; most of all he is interested in the rich inner life of the hero, the features of his unique personality and character; nevertheless, he vividly and convincingly talks about the main things that filled this life. In addition to “The Prince,” this edition includes Mikhail Roshchin’s story “Bunin in Yalta” and sensational documents related to Bunin’s life abroad and the history of the Bunin archive. These documents were recently declassified and are being published for the first time.
