He was charming and obnoxious, sentimental and hot-tempered, everyone's favorite and at the same time a very lonely person. Sergei Diaghilev is a mystery man even for his contemporaries. For some reason, some saw him as an upstart and a scoundrel, while others saw him as a “crusader of beauty.” He lived a luxurious lifestyle, knowing what attracted public interest. After his death, he did not leave a penny; even his funeral was paid for by sponsors. Diaghilev called himself a “European-style philanthropist” who opened a “cultural window to Europe” for Russia. It was he who introduced the world to the global, enduring value of Russian culture. Sergei Diaghilev can rightfully be considered the founder of domestic show business. He managed to play on the shocking nature of his troupe’s performances and purposefully imbued the performances with various modernist techniques at all levels of composition: scenery, costumes, music, plastics - everything bore the imprint of the most fashionable trends of the era. “Russian Seasons” raised European art to a qualitatively new level of development and to this day never ceases to inspire creative bohemia to search for new ideas. Foreign art connoisseurs to this day bow their heads to the memory of Sergei Pavlovich Diaghilev, who enriched the West with the achievements of Russian culture. In PDF A4 format The publishing layout of the book has been preserved.
