The essays in the book “There,” as always with Evgeniy Vsevolodovich Golovin, are free and not constrained by form to the point of death, when there is no right to object. The first section examines some of the signs of the new Western lyrics, directed towards the Absolute, towards “empty transcendence” (the formula of Hugo Friedrich), excommunicated from the reader. A subtle analysis of the “name” of a thing, the relationship between number and word helps to understand the trend of poetry. The second section is brilliant essay-sketches about Baudelaire, Rimbaud, Trakl. The book ends with a selection of grotesque essays, the final miniature, “Egocentric,” written by Evgeny Vsevolodovich shortly before his death.
