The name of Sheikh Nefzaoui became familiar to posterity precisely as the name of the author of the proposed work - the only one attributed to him. It was created between 1394 and 1433. Sheikh Nefzaoui's book was created at the same time as "The Married Life" by Pietro Aretino, the famous Italian writer of the Renaissance (1492-1556), and the works of Francois Rabelais, the French humanist writer (1494-1553). The similarity with the latter is sometimes so striking in Nefzaoui that the translator could not resist quoting similar passages. What makes Nefzaoui's treatise unique among books of this kind is the seriousness with which the author presents his material to us. It is obvious that he is convinced of the importance of the subject being presented and that the desire to be useful to his contemporaries is the leading motive of his efforts. To give the greatest weight to his recommendations, he does not hesitate to enrich them with religious passages, often resorting to the authority of the Koran, the most sacred book of Muslims. Therefore, none of the authors who worked on this subject can be placed on a par with Sheikh Nefzawi.
