This is a story about the author's wartime childhood, about the struggle for survival in the occupation and in several fascist concentration camps. Like a report through the eyes and heart of a boy from a distant and terrible past. It’s as if the reader is being invited to travel back to this past and, together with the boy, relive episodes of the Great Patriotic War. But it was necessary not only to survive in inhuman conditions, but also to preserve the Human within - not to servile, not to be tempted by handouts from the fascists, not to fall into betrayal, obvious and not obvious. Do not lose faith in our final victory. This, perhaps, was even more difficult than enduring severe hunger, cold, illness and constant fear of death in a concentration camp in the Estonian city of Valga, especially as a child.
