Seventeen-year-old Pasha Shahed lives in a non-poor quarter of the huge capital, and he spends the summer of 1973 mainly on the roof, in the company of his best friend Akhmet; the young men joke, discuss the books they have read, and make plans for the future. But one night Pasha provides a service to the Shah's secret police.
