The collection of selected works by M. D. Shargorodsky in the field of criminal law includes fragments of the scientist’s three largest monographs - “Criminal Law”, “Crimes against Life and Health” and “Punishment under the Criminal Law of an Exploiting Society”, as well as two chapters from "Course of Soviet criminal law." The monograph “Punishment, its goals and effectiveness” (1973) is almost completely published, with the exception of the last chapter “The goals of punishment in bourgeois criminal law and its effectiveness.” A number of theoretical articles by M. D. Shargorodsky on problems that have not lost their relevance are also published. For teachers, graduate students, law students and everyone interested in issues of theory and history of law.
