The story “The Idyll of the White Lotus,” one of the best works of the English writer Mabel Collins (pseud. Kenningale R. Cook, 1851–1927), was recorded, according to her own testimony, under the dictation of the high Spirit and was first published in 1884 . Subba Row (1856-1890), a prominent figure in the Theosophical Society in India, says in his commentary that it depicts in an allegorical form the difficulties and trials that the neophyte has to endure, and that the book “truly describes the priestly class in Egypt and the Egyptian religion. at a time when it was already beginning to lose its original purity and began to gradually degenerate into the worship of the dark forces of nature.”
