Kotlyarevsky Nestor Aleksandrovich (1863–1925), publicist, literary critic; first director of the Pushkin House (since 1910). His books are “Essays on Contemporary Russian Literature. Poetry of anger and sorrow"; “Works of K. K. Sluchevsky”, “Nineteenth Century”; “Decembrists”, “Ancient Portraits”, “Eve of Liberation”, “Hills of the Motherland”, “M. Yu. Lermontov. The personality of the poet and his works”, “Nikolai Vasilyevich Gogol. 1829–1842. An Essay on the History of Russian Novels and Dramas,” etc., were a great success in their time. Despite his underestimation of the originality of literature as the art of words, his books are of interest to the modern reader.
