The book provides a general description and classification of both non-gunshot and gunshot wounds. Modern views on wound ballistics, local and general reactions of the body to injury are presented. The features of modern firearms and mine-explosive injuries are shown. A separate chapter is devoted to specific issues of diagnosis and treatment of injuries to the skull, chest, thoracoabdominal wounds, injuries to the musculoskeletal system, as well as major blood vessels and peripheral nerves. Much attention is paid to wound infection (gas gangrene, putrefactive infection, tetanus, sepsis, etc.), methods of its diagnosis, treatment and prevention.
