A new study of the mental phenomenon of the writer (the case of Dostoevsky). Focusing on how external impulses can be interpreted in the mind through fragments of past (internal) experience, the researcher reveals fascinating and sometimes exciting “plots” from the life of the writer and, demonstrating how fantasies could give way to the writer’s secret desire to play out his biography in a new way . The study is structured like a detective story with the unobtrusive introduction of examples from the practice of psychoanalysis and psychopathology. Using well-known “facts”: the ideas and fantasies of Dostoevsky, as well as the ideas and fantasies of his interpreters, the author of the book builds a dialogue with the writer (and the reader) not in the form of an “exchange of ideas,” but as a model of what could have taken place in the mind ( and subconscious) of the writer, that is, could to be really accessible to his (and all) experience.
