Book “The Empire of Peter the Great 1700-1725.” continues the series of books “Russia - the path through the centuries.” “The activity of Peter, unparalleled in history, gave the Russian state new life and new strength, and hardly any sovereign of the new world has great rights to the name Great,” wrote the 19th century Russian historian Dm. about Peter. Ilovaisky. On October 22, 1721, Peter I accepted the imperial title. For more than two centuries, our state began to be called the Russian Empire. His conquests forced the strongest powers of the world to reckon with Russia, allowing it to participate on an equal footing in international relations. The largest monument to the reign of Peter is the city of St. Petersburg, the new capital of the Russian state, erected by his command and with his direct participation. All this is discussed in the proposed book.
